BIRA works collaboratively with other non-profit organizations on the Island to provide additional resources and support where needed.
BI RESCUE SQUAD — This non-profit organization provides Fire and Emergency Rescue Service to Block Island
HELPING HANDS — This non-profit Food Bank provides food to those of Block Island’s 1000 year-round residents who are in need. Food is distributed to the public from donations and charitable organizations. Helping Hands also supplements public school snacks.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT WORKERS’ CENTER is based at Harbor Church and is a meeting place for support and cultural exchange for the international student workers who greatly augment the summer work force. Each summer, BIRA funds at least one Tuesday evening dinner and provides other support as well.
LUNCH BUNCH — BIRA funds an annual lunch for Block Island’s senior residents who meet weekly as a group for lunch, socialization and discussions.
